Conference Updates

Don’t forget the annual conference is fast approaching, March 30-April 1, 2022 in Washington DC. The Conference is being held at the Courtyard Washington Downtown/Convention Center, 901 L Street NW, Washington, DC 20001. This is a multi-access conference which means that it is primarily an in-person conference with a limited number of events available to be live-streamed online on the days of the conference for those who wish to participate virtually. Recordings of all the talks will also be available for a limited time after the conference to anyone who attends either in-person or virtually.

SAVIR is requiring all attendees & speakers to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and will be following the most current CDC recommendations for gatherings. There will be no exceptions to this vaccination requirement.

  • All participants attending the conference must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate. Fully vaccinated means a person has received their primary series of COVID-19 vaccines. We strongly recommend that you also get a booster prior to attending. For more information, see https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html
  • Facial mask-wearing is required for all activities at the conference. During meals masks may be removed while actively eating or drinking.
  • We recommend that all attendees take either a PCR or antigen test within 72 hours of travel to the conference. If you test positive or do not feel well before travel, please do not attend the conference in person.

SAVIR is committed to providing the safest in-person environment and experience. We will provide appropriate physical distancing in meeting rooms and hand sanitizer throughout the meeting venue. We will continue to follow the science and monitor federal, state and local guidelines and adjust our policies as needed to ensure a safe and comfortable meeting for all attendees. An FAQ document is currently under development and will be available on the SAVIR website as soon as it has been completed.

A few updates:

  • Registration for the conference is now open
  • We are excited to bring back pre-conference short courses, technical workshops, the journal editors roundtable, speed mentoring, the Reciprocity Ring, and more. Make sure to explore all the different options when you register.
  • The AIG committee is updating the Code of Conduct and Conference Presenter Guideline to Address Health Inequity and Racism. These documents will be available to view on the SAVIR website.
